Project
A Home in Service of the Human
The HoMerge project is a reference model of an accessible living environment – the home as critical infrastructure for human autonomy, safety, and dignity. It is not a demonstration installation, but a real living environment and simultaneously a Living Lab.
Project philosophy
The overriding principle is simple: it is the home and technology that are to serve the human, not the other way around. The design is based on lived experience – the real experience of people with disabilities.
Layered model of accessibility
Core
Barrier-free architecture, predictable functional layout, ergonomic heights, basic safety scenarios.
Extended layer
Advanced automation, energy systems, HVAC, functional safety, and health-supporting systems.
Three user perspectives
- Wheelchair – ergonomics, maneuverability, safe transfers.
- Crutches – gait stability, risk reduction, predictability.
- Blindness – logical orientation, tactile and auditory information.
Data ethics and safety
Data are not the goal of the project. They are a tool supporting safety and independence. We apply data minimization, transparency, and user control over the system.
